Remember when the global basketball governing body, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) got it together and lifted the hijab ban? Yeah, us too. Basically, this story went viral somewhere between 2014 and 2017 after professional female basketball players were unable to play because FIBA said their hijabs were not permitted in the game. Come 2017, FIBA finally re-visited their rulebook and worked out a way to allow religious headgear in basketball. Finally, Muslim women didn’t have to choose between their passion and their religion.
