It’s our favorite time of the year again: March 27 marks our sixth annual #MuslimWomensDay global campaign!
What Is #MuslimWomensDay?
We launched Muslim Women’s Day in 2017 as a call to action against the Muslim ban and a cultural moment to respond to hate with love. The global campaign has grown to become the biggest media day of the year to empower Muslim women’s voices and stories. Through our high-level partnerships and activations, Muslim Women’s Day has transformed our representation in the media landscape.
Be sure to watch this space for new announcements, because we have even more exciting news about our partners and events in the days to come.
2022 Theme: “Securing Our Space”
This year’s theme is “Securing Our Space.” Yes, that’s right! We insist on carving our place in every space and proclaiming that we are here and we are not going anywhere. It’s us holding that space by us, and for us.
How to Participate In #MuslimWomensDay
Participating in Muslim Women’s Day is fun and easy! Celebrate the Muslim women in your life by amplifying their voices on social media — retweet, repost, share, and reblog their stories.
Join the conversations on March 27 by using the hashtag #MuslimWomensDay on all social media platforms.
And of course, follow @muslimgirl on Twitter and Instagram to stay up to date on everything to expect for #MuslimWomensDay.
The Twitter Creator Contest
In official partnership with Twitter, we’re hosting our annual #MuslimWomensDay design contest! Last year, we chose @DrReyArts’s design to become the official hashtag emoji of the global campaign. Now, we’re taking over the Twitter Explore page on March 27 and we’re looking for the creator that will design the highlight graphic that will be seen by millions of Twitter users worldwide.
If you’re a Muslim woman who loves illustration and/or design, this is your moment to let your talent shine. We want you to create a design that feels original to you; this contest is all about showing up unapologetically and showing off your originality. The winner will be featured on Muslim Women’s Day along with receiving a prize.
Close your eyes for a moment, connect with your inner unique self, and imagine what Securing Our Space feels like to you. Now, open your eyes and say “Bismillah!”
Are YOU going to be the featured creator of Muslim Women’s Day 2022?
