March 1st kicks off Women’s History Month! Women’s History Month started in 1995 to highlight women’s contributions to society and various historical events. Muslim Women’s Day, which happens every year on 3/27 since 2017, is a special part of Women’s History Month.
Muslim women have made amazing contributions to their communities long before we were getting official recognition for it. Some of these women’s legacies became worldwide phenomenons, such as that of Fatima al-Fihri, who founded the first university.
We encourage you to do more research on your own to learn more about the Muslim women in this video — and to nominate the Muslim women in your community doing amazing work for our 2022 Muslim Women To Watch list! Do you know a Muslim woman doing amazing work? Nominate her here.
