This August Will Be Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month

August usually signals the end of summer and back to school. But we are so excited to learn that August 2016 will be recognized as Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month.
In a statement released by Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), assembly member Bill Quirk will present House Resolution 59, which will recognize August 2016 as Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month. CAIR-LA will join the resolution presentation on Monday, Aug. 1.
The press release said:
“I am proud to celebrate the first ever Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month by honoring generations of Muslim Americans for their many social, cultural, and economic contributions to California,” Assembly member Quirk stated. “The rhetoric surrounding this election makes the presentation of this resolution more important for me,” he said. “It is appropriate to acknowledge and promote awareness of the myriad invaluable contributions of Muslim Americans in California and across the country, and extend to them the respect and camaraderie every American deserves.”
We are so thankful that amid so much hatred and racism toward Muslims that Muslims are still being recognized for their contribution to society.
