From a bedroom blog to a cultural force
Founded by author and activist Amani Al-Khatahtbeh, then a high school student with a laptop and a point to prove, Muslim Girl began as a refusal to accept the story others told about us. Since then, it has grown to become the biggest media platform for Muslim women’s voices in the United States — shaping conversation, culture, and commerce for a global audience where Muslim Women Talk Back.
What we stand for
End stereotypes. We center Muslim women as protagonists in their own narratives and mainstream our presence across fashion, politics, beauty, and everyday life. Muslim Girl has launched first-of-their-kind partnerships across industries to push back on misrepresentation, such as our Getty Images Stock Photo Collection, Soho House Ramadan Iftar Series, and Teen Vogue “Ask A Muslim Girl” Show — the first Muslim-focused content to win a Webby Award.
Move culture. We produce coverage that travels from social feeds to boardrooms to the halls of power. Muslim Girl has supported, signed on or contributed to numerous amicus briefs in the U.S. Supreme Court to fight for the freedom of religion and speech for women of all backgrounds.
Build sisterhood. We cultivate a multigenerational community grounded in dignity, curiosity, and mutual empowerment.

Our impact

-
Cross-industry relevance: Brands, festivals, and global forums partner with us to empower underrepresented communities.
Our founder
Amani Al-Khatahtbeh is an author, activist, and international thought leader. Leading Muslim Girl to become the first Muslim company on Forbes 30 Under 30, and recognized by CNN as one of The Most Influential American Muslims, Amani is globally recognized for redefining Muslim women’s representation in media. What began in her New Jersey bedroom as a teenage act of resistance has evolved into a movement that transformed how the world sees Muslim women — and how Muslim girls grow up to see themselves. Amani guides the organization’s mission at the intersection of culture, politics, and technology.
