Lindsay Lohan Stopped at Heathrow Airport for Wearing a Hijab

In an interview on Good Morning Britain with Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, Lindsay Lohan confessed that she was stopped and racially profiled at London Heathrow Airport while traveling from Turkey to New York because she was wearing a headscarf.

Lohan claimed that the airport security officer stopped her and conducted a double security check. When the security officer opened her passport and read the name “Lindsay Lohan,” she began apologizing immediately. The security personnel told Lohan to remove her hijab and she complied.

Lohan replied that she was traveling from Turkey, where most women cover their hair, and she wore it out of respect for the practice.

The 30-year-old celebrity told Morgan and Reid, “What scared me at that moment was, how would another woman, who doesn’t feel comfortable taking off her headscarf, feel.” Lohan called the experience “jarring” and said that she was “a little intimidated.”

When Reid asked the Parent Trap star why she was wearing a hijab, Lohan replied that she was traveling from Turkey, where most women cover their hair, and she wore it out of respect for the practice.

Morgan and Reid also inquired about Lohan’s relationship with Islam, asking if she is considering converting, Lohan replied, “I think that studying the Quran is something that I find a solace in. Nothing is confirmed yet.”

Reid pressed on, asking the American actress what she finds appealing about Islam, Lohan articulated that she finds peace in studying the Quran and other religions. She said, “When I go to Turkey, and there’s prayer hour, it calms me.”
