ICYMI: This Game Is the Quranic Version of Wordle

The viral word game, Wordle, which has won the hearts of many and has become an internet sensation with over 2 million daily users, now has an Arabic version called Quranle.

As the name suggests, this adaptation in the form of a website helps users learn Quranic Arabic, enhancing their knowledge of the Quranic text. It is a great tool for beginners, especially youngsters, to enhance their Arabic skills while they are glued to their screens. The game has started gaining popularity online over the past few days as Twitter users began posting screenshots of their attempts to solve the daily puzzle.Β

This daily puzzle is an interactive and addictive way to learn short ayats, Quranic terms/words, and their meanings. The rules are quite simple and it is as interesting as the actual Wordle. All you have to do is translate the Quranic passage of the day. A person has five chances to translate the Quranic passage below the grid. There are cues and meanings given below, and one can tap the translations at the bottom of the screen to match with the Quranic text highlighted in bold.

Quranle enables every Muslim to strengthen their faith in Islam from the Holy Quran as it is pure; the unchanged message from Allah (SWT), absolutely nothing has been added, removed, or altered from it because Quran is the word of Allah Almighty.

After each row, the color of the tiles will change to show how close your translation was to the passage. Any translation that exists in the ayat, but is in the wrong place, shows up as yellow, any correct translation in the right position shows up in green and any translation that does not exist in the passage shows up as gray.

There is only one ayat each day, and it’s the same for everyone playing across the globe, which makes it easier to learn and memorize it. It is extremely beneficial to use this website in the month of Ramadan when we are already looking for ways to kill time between suhoor and iftar. The benefits of fasting, praying, and all different forms of worship in Ramadan are significant to all believers.

There is a disclaimer given that says that word-by-word translation can differ from the full ayah translation. The five words in the passage are for testing your Quranic Arabic vocab only.

However, there is a special bond between Quran and Ramadan that gives learning Quran, reciting it, memorizing it, and teaching it a special place during this sacred month. Quranle enables every Muslim to strengthen their faith in Islam from the Holy Quran as it is pure; the unchanged message from Allah (SWT), absolutely nothing has been added, removed, or altered from it because Quran is the word of Allah Almighty.

The most exciting part is that once a person is able to guess the correct translation of the ayat, a pop-up opens with the complete meaning of the ayat and an option to improve one’s Quranic Arabic. There is a disclaimer given that says that word-by-word translation can differ from the full ayah translation. The five words in the passage are for testing your Quranic Arabic vocab only.

Quranle also has a dark mode feature, and keeps a record of your games and winning streaks. The interface is identical to the original game Wordle, as it is a daily puzzle of five translations that make up an ayat.

Since it is a website, there is a way to pin the website to your home screen if you want to get to it quicker every day. Users only need to open the website in their phone’s browser and find the option to pin the web. Quranle is perhaps the easiest, quickest, and most fun way of learning Quranic Arabic.
