Here Are the Funds That the United States Sent to Israel Since October 7

The United States’ intervention and complicity in human rights violations that we see while supporting Israel through funds and other means to further its own interests is a story all too familiar to us since the onset of the Cold War. Whether under the guise of defending democracy or protecting human rights, the United States always finds its way into international conflicts in ways that are well… not necessarily pretty.

The long-standing Israel-Palestine conflict is one such example wherein the United States’ “intervention” (support) has consistently fueled Israel’s violations of human rights against Gazans.

As a nation that prides itself on values of liberty, freedom, and equality, such overt support for a blatant assault on the rights of innocent civilians is ironic in the most grueling sense possible. Their support towards Israel is not limited to mere political pandering but they are also actively funding Israel, the largest cumulative recipient of U.S. aid.

Here’s a breakdown of the funds the United States has sent to Israel since October 7 (in USD):

P.S. Israel Is the Largest Cumulative Recipient of U.S. Aid.

  • $3.3 billion: The U.S. Department of State passed $3.3 billion under the Foreign Military Financing (FMF) program, which denotes the amount of credit extended to a foreign government or international organization in a fiscal year to procure defense articles, defense services, and design and construction services (FY-2023).
  •  $14.3 billion: The U.S. House approved a bill to give 14.3 billion USD in aid to Israel (Nov 2, 2023) — what AIPAC called “historic.”
  • $26.4 billion: The U.S. House passed a bill that would provide Israel with an additional $26.4 billion (April 20, 2024).
  • $15 billion: A U.S. aid package was sent to enhance military and defense in Israel (April 24, 2024).

The aid granted to Israel was initially supposed to be economic and humanitarian aid, along with military financing. However, as of 2021 99.8% (33.8 billion USD/year) of U.S. Aid to Israel is for the purposes of its military operations which are directly used to murder thousands of civilians in Palestine.
