By It’s true: Muslim Girl got to cover the Emmy Awards — one of the biggest nights in Hollywood! This is remarkable and historic since it is the first time a Muslim-owned media platform has been invited to cover the Emmys, one of the four most significant honors given in the United States for performing arts and entertainment.

Lizzo Wins Emmy for ‘Watch Out for the Big Grrrls’ and accepts her award stunning in red. “When I was a little girl all I wanted to see was me in the media. Someone fat like me. Black like me. Beautiful like me.”
Zendaya accepted her award for lead actress in a drama series. She is the youngest two-time winner and the first Black woman of the award in history.
Shonda Rhimes and Sarah Paulson presented the ‘Governors Award’ to our partner, Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media at The Emmys
The Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media received the Governor’s Award “in appreciation of their work to promote gender equality and cultivate inclusivity throughout the entertainment business.” Davis, the institute’s founder, and executive director Madeline DiNonno discussed the ongoing need for gender equality in the entertainment sector, naming Muslim Girl as one of their most ardent supporters.
