Here’s How Islam Encourages Us to Ask Allah For Our Desires

We live in an era where we’re encouraged to chase our desires more than ever before.

On a smaller scale, we’ve all misplaced an item in the past and asked Allah (SWT) to guide us to its whereabouts by repeatedly saying ‘Aotho Billah’.

Most times, in His remembrance this works, and this is the Law of Attraction.

At 23 years old, many things weren’t going the way I hoped they would. One area of my life that was affected was my career which I take a lot of pride in.

With the Covid-19 pandemic, inflation across the UK, and fewer jobs to go around for more unemployed people, I was stuck at the same assistant job for far too long.

In many ways, I was grateful to have a job and a stable income, but I felt like I hit a rock-hard dead end. I wasn’t getting the promotion I was promised nor was I receiving a response to all the job applications that I was sending off.

I prayed to Allah (SWT) for guidance and I put all my trust in Him.

As a child, I always knew I wanted to be a journalist; to meet new people, travel the world, and write about my experiences. It felt like a dream, and somehow Allah (SWT) lit that fire inside me again at the age of 23.

It was on a sunny mid-June afternoon that a quick Google search helped me land on the website of an amazing postgraduate journalism school that was local to me. A few clicks later and I found out about a scholarship program so that my journalism training was paid for.

I didn’t stress and I didn’t worry. I knew that this was what I ultimately wanted in my life and I trusted that Allah (SWT) would make it easy for me if it rightly resonated with my path.

Amazingly, I got through to journalism school and I received a scholarship so that it was all paid for.

It felt like a miracle, but it was Allah (SWT) watching over me after what was a tough year.

His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, “Be,” and it is.

Ask Allah (SWT) for what you want, and don’t worry about how big or small it is. Leave it in His hands and watch his power come into play.
