19 Creators to Follow to Know About What’s Happening in Sudan

The civil war in Sudan is now spanning over 275 days — and things are only getting worse despite the efforts of many Sudanese voices and content creators who have been bringing all the atrocities into the spotlight. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are advancing into eastern territories, further dividing the nation where the army controls the east, and the RSF dominates the west and Khartoum.

The inner conflict, which erupted on Apr. 15, 2023, has seen heightened violence, with both of the fighting factions — RSF and the Sudanese army — engaging in gunfights in Khartoum as well as other parts of the country. Despite cooperating with Djibouti and Kenya — alongside other East African nations — to facilitate direct talks between the warring parties, the scheduled meeting that was set for Dec. 28, 2023, was pushed back.

To understand the roots of the current situation and how things have taken a rather concerning turn, it is imperative — now more than ever — to get the right resources as you educate yourself on what has been happening all that time. That is precisely why we have compiled a list of 19 content creators and Sudanese voices that are bringing what is happening in Sudan to your screens.

While all eyes are on Palestine, Sudan is experiencing over 5.1 million cases of displacement within 5,473 locations throughout its 18 states — making Sudan the nation with the highest number of adult and child displacements worldwide, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

Include Sudan into your advocacy, share what is happening, use hashtags such as #TalkAboutSudan as well as #KeepEyesOnSudan, and amplify the Sudanese voices that are being shadowbanned and suppressed. It is our duty to pick the right side of history and bring the voices of the oppressed to the forefront until justice is served and rights are reclaimed.
