Stay protected from Jinn

6 Powerful Gems From Quran & Hadith To Ward off Jinn for Good

The Jinn have been on this earth for a long time, even before Prophet Adam (AS) first came down to earth. While mostly invisible to us, people all over the world and for centuries have reported possessions, evil whispering, and all over bad things. That’s why, we need to stay protected from Jinn.

Fortunately, we’ve been given several duas and ayahs to recite when we want protection from the Jinn, Shaytan, and any harm that could befall us.

Below is a compilation of six of the most important duas and ayahs to remember to stay protected from Jinn.

1. ayatul kursi

Perhaps the most powerful ayah to memorize for anyone is the Ayatul Kursi (The verse of the Throne).

Reciting Ayatul Kursi after every Fardh (compulsory) salah, and before we go to sleep is an excellent practice to implement, as it’s one of the most powerful sources of protection.

2. the words of the prophet

Abu Hurairah reported in a hadith that the Prophet of Allah (PBUH) said:

Then he quoted him as saying: “He who uttered these words, ‘There is no god but Allah, the One, having no partner with Him. Sovereignty belongs to Him and all the praise is due to Him, and He is Potent over everything,’ one hundred times every day […] that is a safeguard for him against Satan on that day until the evening.”

3. the dua of ibrahim

In a hadith in Sahih Bukhari, it is said that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to recite the following dua of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) for his grandsons, seeking refuge in Allah (SWT) and asking Him for protection against Satan and the evil eye.

“O Allah! I seek Refuge with Your Perfect Words from every devil and from poisonous pests and from every evil, harmful, envious eye.”

4. the dua for protection against evil

Narrated by Uthman (RA), the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is reported to have said that whoever recites the following dua three times every morning and evening, nothing will harm that person.

“In the Name of Allah, Who with His Name nothing can cause harm in the earth nor in the heavens, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.”

5. the last two ayahs of surah baqarah

Surah Baqarah is a blessed surah overall, and it is encouraged to recite the surah as often as we can. Even better would be to memorize and recite the last two ayahs of Surah Baqarah as a way of seeking refuge in Allah (SWT) from everything in life.

In Tirmidhi, there is a hadith that says the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has assured that anyone who recites the last two ayahs of Surah Baqarah for three consecutive nights, their home will be protected entirely from Satan.

In fact, the event behind this Ayah is a great reminder for all of us that Allah (SWT) doesn’t burden any of us with anything we cannot bear — be it grief, fear, responsibilities, or even evil whispers.

In Tirmidhi, there is a hadith that says the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has assured that anyone who recites the last two ayahs of Surah Baqarah for three consecutive nights, their home will be protected entirely from Satan.

“We make no distinction between any of His messengers.” And they say, “We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the [final] destination.”

“Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us, and forgive us, and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.”

6. mu’awwathatayn

The last two surahs in the Quran, Surah Falaq and Naas, also known as the Mu’awwathatayn, are two very beneficial surahs. In both surahs, you are asking Allah (SWT) to not only protect you from the evil eyes of people but of the Jinn as well.

While the Jinn are not like humans physically, they share similar characteristics and qualities — like having the ability to cast an evil eye. By reciting Surah Falaq and Surah Naas every single day, in the morning and evenings, Allah (SWT) will surely protect us.
