5 Must-Know Duas To Recite on Laylatul Qadr

Laylatul Qadr, or the Night of Power, is a night that has been said to be better than a thousand months. Falling most likely on an odd night during the last ten nights of Ramadan, the Night of Power is said to be the best night to make dua. It’s the night that Allah SWT forgives all of our sins and accepts all of our duas.

So the question arises: what duas do we make on Laylatul Qadr?

While the month of Ramadan is the most blessed and important month of the year, and the duas we make each day of the month are important, the duas we make on Laylatul Qadr carry a lot more weight. Here are five important duas to make on Laylatul Qadr.

Dua #1

The most common dua to read during the last ten nights and especially during the night of Laylatul Qadr is the following:

O Allah, You are the Most forgiving, and You love to forgive, so forgive me.

Transliteration: Allaahumma innaka ‘afuwwun, tuhibb al-‘afwa, fa’fu ‘anni.

Dua #2

The following dua is for an abundance of rizq, or sustenance in this dunya.

O Allah! I ask You for knowledge that is of benefit, a good provision and deeds that will be accepted.

Transliteration: Allahumma inni as’aluka ‘Ilman naafi’an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa ‘amalan mutaqabbalan

Dua #3

This common dua is one that we should make for a good life in this dunya and the hereafter and protection from Jahannam.

Our Lord! Grant us good in this world and good in the life to come and keep us safe from the punishment of Hellfire.

Transliteration: Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil ‘akhirati hasanatan waqina ‘athaaban-nar.

Dua #4

This dua for guidance is something we should ask for on a regular basis but especially during Ramadan.

O Allah, I ask You for guidance and piety, and abstinence (from the unlawful) and modesty, and contentment and sufficiency.

Transliteration: Allāhumma Innī As’aluka al-Hudā Wat-Tuqā Wal-Afāfa Wal-Ghinā.

Dua #5

The following dua is a long one but one completely worth reading and learning.

O Allah! You are my Lord! None has the right to be worshipped but You. You created me, and I am Your slave, and I am faithful to my covenant and my promise as much as I can. I seek refuge with You from all the evil I have done. I acknowledge before You all the blessings You have bestowed upon me, and I confess to You all my sins. So I entreat You to forgive my sins, for nobody can forgive sins except You.

May we all complete Ramadan, may Allah SWT accept all our efforts during the month, and may He accept and fulfill all the duas we make during the month and especially during Laylatul Qadr. Ameen.
