5 Lessons From Muslim Women’s Day This Year That Will Change Your Lookout on Life

Our Annual campaign this year was more of a meditation than a celebration, as we navigated this sacred month of Ramadan with our yet-to-be-mastered individual and collective realities. Ampled with events and purposeful responsibilities, each moment from Muslim Women’s Day became an opportunity to glean life-altering lessons.

In honor of this year’s campaign, here are five game-changing lessons that you do not want to miss out on.

1. Erase the word “give up” from your dictionary

Behind the scenes of Muslim Women’s Day, our team and esteemed partners pour their hearts and souls into every detail of the annual event, from brainstorming sessions to the final execution just so that we leave off with something meaningful that resonates with the very essence of Muslim women empowerment and inclusivity.

And so, having an unwavering faith in ourselves and Iman in God holds us steady through thick and thin, reminding us of the impact this day can have on Muslim women and girls worldwide.

2. Cherish now, not later

Life is a hustle, and it can be relentless. Even worse, if you are not mindful of your priority list for the day, you will find yourself spinning through endless to-do lists with little energy to spare for the ones you cherish. But amidst the chaos, this year’s theme, “Iman,” transcends mere spiritual faith — it is a poignant tribute to the tenacious spirit of Iman Alkhatahtbeh, the driving force behind our fearless Muslim Girl founder, Amani.

3. Connect through mutual humanness

Amani’s profound insight from this year’s Muslim Women’s Day echoes with resounding truth: motherhood knows no bounds, defying the constraints of politics and borders. As her words settled in my mind, I could not help but marvel at the intersectionality and duality inherent in the term “Iman.”

From our “Iman” theme, I learned that motherhood transcends political barriers.

At its core, “Iman” stands as the bedrock of faith, uniting Muslim communities worldwide under the pillars of belief and devotion. Yet, for us at Muslim Girl, it also serves as a powerful symbol of the universal bond between mother and daughter — a love so pure and unconditional that it transcends the barriers of religion, geography, and identity.

4. Even if small, make an effort

This year’s Muslim Women’s Day celebrated the captivating tale of the persevering Muslim Girl Sania Ali, whose embrace of our Islamic Hijab ignited a profound spiritual connection. Her narrative — skillfully crafted by our esteemed partner, Her Campus — was a powerful reminder that even the smallest of gestures can catalyze monumental shifts in our lives.

5. Help yourself to help others

As we navigate our personal lives, each with its own set of challenges and perils, Muslim Women’s Day this year brought to light a stark takeaway: to uplift others, we must first uplift ourselves. This invaluable wisdom, expertly laid out by our Muslim Girl Founder, Amani, resonated deeply as she delved into the soul-stirring narrative crafted by our writer and journalist Maliya, brought to life by our influential partner, Refinery29.
