By The most blessed day of the year is upon us: The day of Arafah. During the day of Arafah, starting a little before noon and lasting until sunset, pilgrims come together at the Plain of Arafah in Mecca. They engage in a solemn act of devotion, standing steadfastly before Allah (SWT), seeking His mercy and forgiveness. Muslims across the world, even those who are not performing Hajj, spend this day in prayer and reflection. On the Day of Arafah, Muslims believe that Allah (SWT) forgives the sins of all those who ask for His forgiveness. Most importantly, the Day of Arafah is the day Allah (SWT) answers the supplications of all those who call upon Him. Here are 5 duas you can recite on the day of Arafah:
1. The Prophet (SAW) Told Us to Recite This Dua on the Day of Arafah
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ ، وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ ، وهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
laa ilaaha ill-allaahu, waḥdahu laa shareeka lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu, wa huwa ‛alaa kulli shay’in qadeer
None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner. To Him belongs sovereignty and all praise and He is over all things omnipotent.
2. Dua for Ease During Difficulties
اللّهُـمَّ إِنِّي أَعْوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الهَـمِّ وَ الْحُـزْنِ، والعًجْـزِ والكَسَلِ والبُخْـلِ والجُـبْنِ، وضَلْـعِ الـدَّيْنِ وغَلَبَـةِ الرِّجال
Allaahumma ‘innee ‘a’oothu bika minal-hammi walhazani, wal’ajzi walkasali, walbukhli waljubni, wa dhala’id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijaal
O Allah, I seek refuge in you from grief and sadness, from weakness and from laziness, from miserliness and from cowardice, from being overcome by debt and overpowered by men (i .e . others.)
3. Dua for Forgiveness
ربَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَإِسْرَافَنَا فِي أَمْرِنَا وَثَبِّتْ أَقْدَامَنَا وانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَِ
Rabbana-ghfir lana dhunuubana wa israfana fi amrina wa thabbit aqdamana wansurna ‘alal qawmil kafireen
Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and anything We may have done that transgressed our duty: Establish our feet firmly, and help us against those that resist Faith
4. Dua for Guidance
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْهُدَى وَالتُّقَى وَالْعَفَافَ وَالْغِنَى
Allahumma inni asalukal huda, wat tuqa, wal afafa, wal ghina
O Allah! I beseech You for guidance, piety, chastity and contentment.
5. Dua for a Good Ending
اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ خَيْرَ عُمْرِي آخِرَهُ ، وَخَيْرَ عَمَلِي خَوَاتِمَهُ ، وَخَيْرَ أَيَّامِي يَوْمَ أَلْقَاكَ
Allahummaj ‘al khayra ‘umury aakhirahu, wa khayra ‘amaly khawatimahu, wa khayra ayyami yawma alqaka
O Allah, make the end of my life the best part of my life, my best deeds my last ones, make the best of days the day in which I meet you.
