Matching your color schemes will better draw out the concept of pop of color. You don’t have to go for the bold lip if you aren’t a fan, however! Color-coordinating your accessories is enough to draw the eye from the black of your outfit.
Make sure that when you work the “pop of color” look, you wear either black or gray. These colors are already so devoid of color, they need those supporting flashes that you can give with your accessories. Neon would not stand out as much against a white canvas, of course. So when you’re picking your outfit, choose DARK.
Of course, you don’t have to go for neon colors, though I think they are the most fun to play with!
