By In an attempt to defend Donald Trump’s Muslim ban, Secretary of Press, Sean Spicer repeatedly referenced the terrorist attack that took place in Atlanta. Our only problem with this reference: it never happened.
Here is what Spicer’s said on Jan. 29 to ABC in an interview.
“What do we say to the family who loses somebody over a terroristic (sic) — to whether it’s Atlanta or San Bernardino or the Boston bomber? Those people, each of whom had gone out to a country and then come back,” Spicer said.
Though at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, a pipe bomb was detonated that killed two people, it was not from someone who traveled overseas and was radicalized, as was Spicer’s whole point. The bombing was done by Eric Robert Rudolph, an American right-wing terrorist furious about homosexuality and the abortion. In true form to what is becoming the norm in this administration, Spicer didn’t let the facts stand in his way.

The following day, Spicer was interviewed on MSNBC and once again mentioned the terrorist attack that took place (but not really) in Atlanta saying:
“There was a very short period of time in which we had something to execute that ensured that the people of the United States were safe. Everybody’s been protected,” Spicer said. “What happened if we didn’t act and somebody was killed? … Too many of these cases that have happened — whether you’re talking about San Bernardino, Atlanta … Boston … would you wait until you do? The answer is we act now to protect the future.”
Seriously guys, I had no idea we were allowed to just make up facts and figures (and whole events) to prove our point. Could have saved me a lot of time in college. I guess I am just old-fashioned that way, seeking truth, doing research and verifying facts, psh.
You would think that by the second interview the White House Secretary of Press would have realized his fabrication, nope.
It’s almost as if these acts of discrimination have no legal or rational basis. Who am I kidding? That’s exactly what it is.
Spicer mentioned the fabricated foreign attack on Atlanta again. On Jan. 30 at his press briefing, when asked by a reporter why some countries linked to terrorist attacks are not on the Muslim Ban list. Spicer’s response was:
“Right, and we’re reviewing the entire process over this period of time to make sure that we do this right. But I don’t think you have to look any further than the families of the Boston Marathon, in Atlanta, in San Bernardino to ask if we can go further.”

This is the second prominent member of Trump’s administration that has lied about terrorist attacks in order to defend Trumps ban on innocent immigrants and refugees from seven Muslim majority countries. Let’s not forget Kellyanne Conway’s “Bowling Green Massacre,” which also never happened. It seems much of the reasoning behind the Trump administration’s Muslim Ban are fictitious. It’s almost as if these acts of discrimination have no legal or rational basis. Who am I kidding? That’s exactly what it is.
Donald Trump and his administration have been the leading players in this sport of “fake news.” These lies continually come out of an administration that can’t tell the difference between fact and fiction. An administration that consistently attacks media outlets and deems any oppositional thought “fake news.” The extent to which we cannot trust information coming out of the White House is concerning, to say the least.
This is only the third week, buckle up. It’s going to be a bumpy ride filled with lies and hateful rants on the press and any other group not pushing the corrupt Trump/Pence/Bannon agenda (don’t think we don’t see your racist foot on the pedal, Steve Bannon).
