What Did Ilhan Omar Have to Say About the Viral Twitter Hashtag #TakeHerOut?

As the impeachment trial rages on, more of the disturbing inner workings of the Trump Administration are coming to light. Most recently, a dinner conversation between President Trump and his merry band of mobsters has brought us our latest viral Twitter hashtag obsession: #TakeHerOut. Oh, you know this is going to be a good one, y’all. In this conversation, President Trump is referring to the United States’ ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch, fired. Being the mob boss slash swamp monster that he is, however, his choice of words struck a dangerous chord.

“Get rid of her!…Get her out tomorrow. I don’t care. Get her out tomorrow. Take her out. OK? Do it,” is what the voice alleged to be Trump’s exclaims on the tape to Lev Parnas.

Yes, that’s the same Lev Parnas now indicted for violating federal campaign finance laws. Let’s also talk about the fact that Lev Parnas was little more than a henchman to Trump, courtesy of Rudy Giuliani. He wasn’t government staff in any capacity, and had no actual power to fire anyone. It’s all starting to look just a little bit dubious, isn’t it?

So, we come full circle to the violent overtones of an expression like “take her out.” Now, we could go on and on about the validity, importance, and subtext of language, particularly when it comes to diplomacy and politics. Instead, we’ll leave the explanations to the Twitter-verse. In case anyone tries to overlook how truly sinister the implication behind Trump’s turn of phrase truly is, just show them this. And don’t forget to check out what our girl, Rep. Ilhan Omar, had to say about it:
