#MuslimGirlProbs is our weekly link roundup of headlines, stories, events, and situations that make us want to rip our hijabs off.
Another week, another set of headlines. Here we go again.
Week of 3/15/2015:
- A Canadian backbencher, Larry Miller, apologizes for telling niqab-wearing Muslim women to, and we quote, “stay the hell where they come from”. Are we surprised? Not at all. Do we accept his apology? Only if he can tell us where exactly this magical Niqab-land is that all niqab-wearing women come from. [Independent]
- A sane, intelligent woman, Megyn Kelly, goes head-to-head with Governor “Bobby” Jindal’s immigration prohibition against radical Muslims. To quote Megyn Kelly: “Are we going to start banning everybody who doesn’t treat women or children or criminals for that matter the way we like?” Good point. [Huffington Post]
- A school, in a noble attempt to promote unity in their classrooms, allowed a student to announce the pledge of allegiance in Arabic. Chaos and complaints ensued by Jewish and “residents who lost family members in the Afghanistan war.” The school publicly apologized. I would like an apology from these residents who think Arabic is a language spoken in Afghanistan. [Huffington Post]
- ISIS takes credit for a suicide bombing in Houthi mosques in Yemen, killing over 100 people. Again we are reminded of the biggest demographic targeted by these “Islamic” organizations: other Muslims. And we are also reminded of the biggest demographic blamed for such vile acts: those same Muslims. [The Guardian]
