I Tried a Water-Repellent Hijab and Here’s What Happened

I’m always on the look out for modest workout clothes for Muslim women that are hijab-friendly. I heard about Veil Garments a couple of months ago and finally decided to give it a try after being frustrated from working out in regular jersey hijabs.

I purchased the  Cool Dry Shawl in blue.  They only have three colors: blue, white and black. These hijabs are described to be “the world’s first ever climate-adapting hijabs. With water-repelling and climate control technologies, you’ll always be prepared for the elements.”

It was soft, didn’t wear me down at all, kept me cool, and it repels water. It’s too bad it doesn’t repel bigots and racists.

I liked that it was short and didn’t get in the way of my workout, as sometimes my jersey hijabs do. If you’re looking for something longer and wider for more coverage, then this may not be for you.

I loved wearing it and working out in it. It was soft, didn’t wear me down at all, kept me cool, and it repels water. It’s too bad it doesn’t repel bigots and racists. I honestly wish they had more colors, too. There’s also a tutorial on how to wear it, if you need ideas.

Here’s a video of me spilling some water on my Veil Garments hijab post-workout at the gym:

I think some ladies might prefer to use pins while wearing it if they don’t like any movement. I personally don’t like wearing pins while working ou,t so I just wrap it around and tug to the side.

The hijab costs $21.97. I think this would be great for running outdoors, swimming, hiking and even for everyday wear!

It’s also easy to wrap in a turban style and will stay put!
