Travels to India: Hope Amid Harsh Realities

Medical Relief and Hospital Care

What I experienced on the ground was a complete eye opener — free consulting sessions for desperate families, the immense amount of trust needed to survey villages and slums for health issues, the range of ethnicities of patients, and the numerous swift decisions made to treat those unable to pay. I saw men as young as 28 undergoing dialysis sessions four hours long, performed almost four times a week for less than 13 dollars. I saw the smile upon the face of a man after watching a live surgery that healed his broken ankle.
