Travels to India: Hope Amid Harsh Realities

I believe that this situation we find ourselves is probably the direct result of not witnessing such events or experiencing it firsthand. Deaths have become mere numbers, and natural disasters only mean a dozen pictures that we share on Facebook or Twitter. This trip has been a life-changing experience for me not only because it has given me a clearer insight into my role as a volunteer, but because of the deep sense of gratitude I have now for my parents in providing for the life I live today. Perhaps one day, Khaja, Ghouse or Afiya can provide a similar future for their children.
