Ramadan Game Changer: Suhoor Smoothies for the Fasting

I hope Ramadan is going extremely well for all of you both spiritually and physically (God willing). I know we’ve hit that 15 day mark  and that energy we’ve been exerting getting up and making a proper pre-dawn meal is slowly deteriorating. That being said, it’s time to introduce a Ramadan game changer: natural smoothies and juices. Who needs Jamba Juice when you can make it at home and at your own convenience in a couple of minutes. Depending on what you put in your smoothies and juices, it can provide you with all the nutrients, hydration, and energy you’ll be needing for the tough day ahead of you.  Here are some healthy drink recipes that I’ve been sticking to this Ramadan that have kept me feeling nice and healthy.

  • 1 Banana or 1/2 a Banana
  • 1 or 2 Dates (depending on size and sweetness preference)
  • 1 Tablespoon of Almond Butter (Balances out the sweetness from the banana and date)
  • 1/4 cup of almonds
  • 1/4 cup of Milk or Greek Yogurt

Strawberry Banana Peanut Butter Smoothie

  • 5/6 Strawberries
  • 1 full Banana
  • 1 TableSpoon of Peanut Butter (Gives that added fiber-making you feel full)
  • 1/4 Cup of Greek Yogurt Plain or Vanilla

Suhoor (Pre-Dawn meal) of course also means trying to chug down as much water as possible. However, sometimes it’s tough drinking all that water without feeling like you’re going to pop. To solve this issue, I’ve been drinking fruit juice blends with watermelon as the base fruit while eating my meal. Juices are also fabulous for when it’s time to open your fast as well. They provide that source of hydration, sugar, and energy that you’ve been lacking all day within a couple of sips. Here are some of my favorite fruit juices.

※ Note that you can never have too much fruit so do whatever feels and tastes yummy
