What’s new in the Trump land?
In a leaked video from 2005, of Donald Trump being interviewed by Billy Bush, a host from “Access Hollywood,” the GOP Party nominee can be seen making degrading, misogynistic, unrepeatable comments about women.
Just 24 hours after his true persona was revealed to America, Donald Trump not only made an unpersuasive, lacking in sincerity, apology video, but also attempted to sell America an inaccurate description of his character, saying he’s a “changed man.”
Is he really though? This isn’t the first time we’ve heard Donald Trump voice his opinion on the opposite sex, and it’s not surprising that his misogyny has been going on for over a decade. The million dollar question is, as a husband and a father of two daughters, and a grandfather to his granddaughters, how does he sleep at night?
Here’s a look back at pre-Presidential candidate Donald Trump through the years.
According to an article titled “Donald Trump Sexism Tracker: Every Offensive Comment In One Place” published by The Telegraph, in 1991 while he was still married to Ivana Trump, Donald Trump said in an interview with Vanity Fair that ” he would “never buy Ivana any decent jewels or pictures. Why give her negotiable assets?” This is the same wife he had an affair on, ending their marriage of 14 years.
The following year, Donald Trump continued to shine a light on his misogynistic reputation, stating in an interview with Esquire magazine that “it doesn’t really matter what [they] write as long as you’ve got a young and beautiful piece of ass.” In just one sentence the value of all women’s intellect was robbed and replaced with the necessity to be a man’s arm candy to make a picture look pretty.
Trump continued to shine a light on his misogynistic reputation, stating in an interview with Esquire magazine that “it doesn’t really matter what [they] write as long as you’ve got a young and beautiful piece of ass.”
It doesn’t stop there! In 1997, the famous entrepreneur accuses all women of being gold diggers. How? According to his logic, there are only three types of women in the world. Brace yourselves to read this one people, it’s pretty enlightening.
He claims that “One is the good woman who very much loves her future husband, solely for himself, but refuses to sign the agreement on principle. I fully understand this, but the man should take a pass anyway and find someone else. The other is the calculating woman who refuses to sign the prenuptial agreement because she is expecting to take advantage of the poor, unsuspecting sucker she’s got in her grasp. There is also the woman who will openly and quickly sign a prenuptial agreement in order to make a quick hit and take the money given to her.”
Come March 7, 2006, Donald Trump “joked’ that “If Ivanka weren’t [his] daughter, perhaps [he’d] be dating her.” Are your ears bleeding yet? Mine are!
In 2007, Donald Trump made it clear that Angeline Jolie just does not fit his standard of what it means beautiful. “I really understand beauty. And I will tell you, she’s not – I do own Miss Universe. I do own Miss USA. I mean, I own a lot of different things. I do understand beauty, and she’s not.” Well as they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and Donald Trump most certainly isn’t beautiful either.
Maya Angelou once said that “They might forget what you said, but never how you made them feel.” With Jolie’s legendary and award-winning reputation for her humanitarian work, many refugees will never forget how she made them feel. That is inarguably a beautiful thing, regardless of how aesthetically pleasing she is. (And yes, she is beautiful!)
I’ll spare you the long trail down memory lane regarding every disgusting thing he’s ever said, and fast forward to recent times.
Last year, Donald Trump tweeted about his rival opponent: ” If Hillary Clinton can’t satisfy her husband what makes her think she can satisfy America?” Really? Where does he get the audacity to make such an ignorant comment when he’s had affairs himself?
Now, this year, one of the many latest comments that we all wish was just a failed comedy act in a nightmare that we could wake up from, The Donald claims that abortion should be a punishable crime. Maybe women didn’t get the memo, and if so, please remind us of when all of a sudden men aka the ones whose bodies do not contain a uterus that have to house a baby for nine months, got to start dictating the occupational status (pregnant or not pregnant) of a woman’s body?
My theory is that the Republican Party has mistaken a women’s body as property, and claimed our bodies via eminent domain. It’s Andrew Jackson in 1839, all over again. Except it’s 2016. Are you feeling the deja vu yet?
There you have it folks. Donald Trump, “a changed man,” making America great again by degrading one woman at a time.
