Domestic violence victim, a young Asian woman being hurt

Poem: So…

Trigger Warning: Abuse

when they asked
“Why did you leave?”

I said

He was a bit abusive
Not too much. Just twisted my arms
A few times,
Hit a bit too hard
A few times

But he made me feel loved
A bit too few times

He couldn’t mark his territory
With my virginity
So he had to do it
In the form of
A bruise
A pair of red wrung wrists,
His voice

My ears
My religion
My race
My everything
More me than him

I grew to hate everything that was mine
So it only made sense for me
To want to belong to someone else
