The newest brand ambassador of CoverGirl looks like me! Beauty vlogger Nura Afia is the first hijabi to ever be featured in an American makeup brand.
She joins Sofia Vergara, Katy Perry, and Chloe and Halle Bailey in the brand’s #LashEquality campaign, which centers on diversity. This isn’t the first time CoverGirl is breaking barriers. Last month, the brand signed its first ever “CoverBoy,” James Charles.
Also, CoverGirl isn’t the first brand this year to feature a diversity-centered campaign or even a hijabi. L’Oreal featured the many faces of women from the U.K. to break down racial barriers of beauty.
Be on the lookout for Afia’s CoverGirl’s So Lashy Mascara TV ad and a big billboard in Times Square (I know right?!). It’s not every day you see someone like you in mainstream beauty campaigns. She is truly one easy, breezy, beautiful CoverGirl.
