What This Turkish Couple Did on Their Wedding Day Makes Them Our #RelationshipGoals

Weddings are supposed to be one of the most memorable and special dates in a couples’ history together. One beautiful Muslim couple made their big day extra special by doing something that they’ll never forget.

In a true Islamic and selfless manner, rather than spending their money on an ordinary wedding, Turkish couple Fethullah Üzümcüoğlu and Esra Polat decided to invite 4,000 Syrian refugees to share a meal and celebrate with them.

Turkey has received about two million Syrian refugees. According to an article in the Telegraph,

“In total, there are four million Syrian refugees who had fled the country in what the UN described as the worst crisis of its kind in a generation. Almost eight million people are displaced within the country”

Not only did Üzümcüoğlu and Polat share their joy with their Syrian brothers and sisters in need, but they hope that their friends and other Turkish couples are inspired to do the same.

The groom, Fethullah Üzümcüoğlu, concluded that,

“Seeing the happiness in the eyes of the Syrian refugee children is just priceless. We started our journey to happiness with making others happy and that’s a great feeling.”

And on behalf of MuslimGirl, I wish that Fethullah and Esra’s marriage be filled with the same happiness and blessings that they gave those who are less fortunate than them. They have served as an inspiration for us all!
