Dawud: In many cases, imams are being treated like any old regular employee, and it’s actually the Board of Directors that dictates or tries to tell the imam what he can or can’t talk about. So, if an imam tries to talk about anything political on the member, he’s facing a firing — which he’s barely getting paid to begin with.
Linda: We have to start taking our own responsibility and we can’t really blame imams for everything. I’m an adult and I can go to a masjid, and if I ain’t feeling what that imam is saying, I’m going to a different masjid.
