By Breast cancer is especially deadly for women of color, including Black women and Muslim woman. Black women get breast cancer at a lower rate than white women, but are more likely to die from it. Muslim women as a whole are less likely to receive mammograms, with only 50% of women reporting receipt of mammograms, as opposed to 70% of non-Muslim women. An intersectional identity — such as being a Black Muslim woman — likely increases the risk of later diagnosis and mortality.
