Internship Opportunities

MuslimGirl.net welcomes students seeking internship opportunities in our online publication. MuslimGirl.net aims to empower women, build bridges between different communities through the spirit of sisterhood, and eliminate stereotypes surrounding Islam and Muslims. Our internships are designed to cultivate leaders and provide students with the experience of developing an online publication aimed at social change.

We want your time at MuslimGirl.net to be whatever you want it to be. This is your chance to create your own opportunity and your own experience. We hope to provide you with the experience you need to cultivate your own growth as an agent of change, leadership, and greater understanding.

MuslimGirl.net offers the following internship positions to both undergraduate and graduate students. Our internships are for the Fall, Winter, and Summer sessions, and applications are accepted on a rolling basis. All internships are unpaid and online.

Available Internship Positions

Social Media Intern

MuslimGirl.net harnesses the power of social media to create social change. The social media intern’s primary responsibility is to maintain and develop MuslimGirl.net’s presence on social networking sites and cultivating the relationship between MuslimGirl.net, its readers, and other organizations. The social media intern will gain extensive experience in social networking and vital online communication skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining MuslimGirl.net social network accounts
  • Creating new ideas for social media engagement
  • Interacting with readers on social networking sites
  • Networking with other organizations and individuals
  • Spearheading social media campaigns

Editorial Intern

Our Editorial Internship is one of the most versatile internships we offer. It is whatever the intern chooses to make it and aims to provide young women the experience of running an online publication. The scope of the internship is very web content-based, and may include writing, editing, researching, producing different types of media, and fulfilling specific assignments from the editor.

Interested applicants should have the following qualifications:

  • Excellent writing skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable with deadlines
  • Must provide 1-2 page writing sample when applying

Campus Coordination Intern

Our Campus Coordination Intern will work closely with us in establishing MuslimGirl student organization chapters in various universities, schools, and communities. The CC Intern will network with students across the country and gain first-hand experience in community organizing, coordinating a team, and starting up a student organization. The CC Intern will have the opportunity to assist youth leaders in implementing MuslimGirl.net’s mission within their community. Interested applicants should have some data entry experience and good communication skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Connecting with youth leaders across the country
  • Assisting in the establishment of MuslimGirl student organization chapters
  • Communicating with interested youth leaders on MuslimGirl opportunities
  • Maintaining spreadsheets and documents
