Feeling Jaded? Why Not Donate to Make A Difference?

With everything going on in the world, you might find yourself overwhelmed and even jaded, especially when you think you can’t do anything to help.

Well, if you’re reading this, it’s very likely that you have at least a dollar to donate to a cause you’re passionate about!

Here’s a list of my favorite places to donate (in alphabetical order):

Child Foundation

This international organization helps Middle Eastern children living in poverty and war to be able to continue their studies by providing them with their basic needs. They work tiredlessly to ensure every child has everything they need to focus on their future and thrive. You can make one time donations, or sponsor a child for as low as 30 USD per month!

Covenant House

Have you ever wondered who takes care of homeless and runaway youth? Well, Covenant House is more than just your regular shelter. Not only do they provide a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for homeless and runaway youth, but they actively help their charges to make goals and plan for their futures whilst staying by their side every step of the way. You can donate money, clothes, food, or even become a volunteer if eligible.

#GirlLove by Lilly Singh

Imagine buying an adorable friendship bracelet AND helping a girl continue her education! Well, with Lilly Singh’s #GirlLove that’s exactly what you can do. Her campaign uses money from the sale of bracelets to help girls in developing countries access proper education. And they are as low as 10 bucks!

Kode with Klossy

This one is founded by the one and only Karlie Kloss, international supermodel and entrepreneur. Her passion for coding and the realization of the gender gap that exists in the world of computer science led her to start a completely free coding camp for girls around the world to come and learn at institutes all over the U.S. The camp is usually two weeks long, and the scholars learn to code and build a website or an app. Everything during the camp is free and the organization makes sure the scholars have the best experience possible. You can donate, or even become a scholar if you’re a female or non-binary identified person under 19!

PETA

I think everyone knows the famous non-profit helping to stop animal cruelty. PETA has been doing extraordinary work in busting companies that have been abusing animals for their own profit. It is a great organization to donate to in order to make sure companies are held accountable. Plus, they make sure we don’t end up buying products that harm innocent animals.

RedCross

Another well known non-profit, which helps people in crisis around the world and responds to their immediate needs. You can find every country’s Red Cross’ website separately and donate specifically to the country you have in mind. A good alternative is Doctors Without Borders

Time’s Up

This rather young non-profit grew rapidly in popularity due to the importance of what they stand for: breaking the silence for the survivors. This organization works hard to take down people in power who abuse their power in order to use the people around them. They have also been a strong voice for survivors, helping them through their healing journey. You can donate for as low as 3 USD!

Support Local Charities

The small charities and nonprofits located in my community that focus on the city I live in are usually my favorite to get involved with. This is because it is easier to meet with the organizers and founders directly, make connections, volunteer, and donate as best as you can in many different ways. I strongly encourage people who have some spare time to look into what’s available in their area. Even a simple online donation is an impactful act for your local community.

On top of everything, there are also some people who I follow on social media who announce different funds or organizations that I can donate to for different causes. Some of my favorites are: Ellen DeGeneres, Leonardo DeCaprio, and Greta Thunberg.
