Dear Sudan, We Stand With You

Dear Sudan,

The past few months, the world watched you roar with fire and fury.We know the road has been tough for you as you’ve been suffering at the hands of oppressive governments for quite some time. Pseudo leaders charged in and took your land, your homes, in the false name of hope.  Your people faced years of disheartening poverty and unfair treatment. And despite the pain, you rose up and spoke out for justice.

Your people faced years of disheartening poverty and unfair treatment.

Today, April 11th, 2019, your tyrant stepped down in the face of your growing dissent. The world rejoiced in your honor. They chant, “Sudan is free” and “Sudan won peace for its people.” Yet, what the world doesn’t see are all of the questions running through your mind. You are smart enough to understand the risk that accompany a military coup. You’ve witnessed your closest neighbor, Egypt, suffer at the hands of a heartless military coup. You’ve promised your people freedom, and that’s exactly why you won’t accept an orchestrated military coup.

We honor those who stood up against oppressive regimes – the women who stood together, the youth who said, “no more,” the people who lived 30 years of uncertainty, knowing that one day they will rise again. We look to you, Sudan. We see you.

We stand with you, Sudan, so that you may not come to the same fate of living with unchecked human rights violations, ruthless military rule and fake economic growth.

Sudan, we support you in your fight for freedom and justice. We know the surmountable pressures you are facing. We, too, saw Egypt stand and fall. We stand with you, Sudan, so that you may not come to the same fate of living with unchecked human rights violations, ruthless military rule and fake economic growth.

Allah (SWT) hear our prayers for a better, stronger, equitable future for Sudan.

Sincerely,

MuslimGirl
