How You Can Help Build the Next Generation of Muslim Leaders

In the spirit of embracing the last few days of Ramadan and just in being a good Muslim in general here is a worthy cause you can get down with: Building the Leaders of Tomorrow.

“Help support our youth from across the country with scholarships as they follow their dreams to attend a Quran and Leadership program with Mirage Academy!”

Mirage Academy, an Islamic leadership program dedicated to Qur’anic scholarship and community leadership located in Memphis, Tenn. This beautiful effort is led by Imam Hamza Abdul Malik with support from leaders such as Imam Siraj Wahhaj, Imam Zaid Shakir, Sister Ayesha al Adawiya, and Dr. Sherman Jackson (who are also the board of advisors for this project).

I don’t need to tell you how important it is to support leadership programs within the Islamic community, especially programs geared towards servicing low-income and minority groups.

I don’t need to tell you how important it is to support leadership programs within the Islamic community, especially programs geared towards servicing low-income and minority groups. This is essential. The tools of leadership should not be based off of the income of your household. Neither race nor socioeconomic status determine a leadership, work ethic or educational worth.

It is so important to give charity, especially during the last days of this blessed month! Give what you can! Share where you can!

The Mirage Academy: Yarrow Mount Leadership Program’s Objective, Goals and Solution are as follows:

Objective

These days, new Imams and young Muslim scholars are a rare commodity and Mirage Academy has been created to change that. Mirage Academy is an educational institution designed to produce the next generation of traditionally trained scholars and leaders. The mission of Mirage Academy is to become a leading model for traditional Islamic education in America through a balanced blend of spiritual training and academic studies to help our youth grow into scholarly, self-sufficient, spiritually grounded leaders.

The mission of Mirage Academy is to become a leading model for traditional Islamic education in America through a balanced blend of spiritual training and academic studies to help our youth grow into scholarly, self-sufficient, spiritually grounded leaders.

The Academy provides students with the essential knowledge and skills needed for modern religious leaders by stimulating the students’ love and mastery of core religious sciences, while equipping them with vocational skills, leadership training, and knowledge of American history and culture.

Goals

The goal of the Academy is to produce new grassroots-oriented scholarship by recruiting students who have limited means to study traditional knowledge, and teach them the traditional Islamic sciences and leadership skills required to lead a modern Masjid or community and to be economically self-reliant.

Solution

Mirage Academy will accomplish these goals by creating the Yarrow Mamout Leadership Program, which will specifically train the students in three areas: Dawah, Islamic Studies, and Leadership.
