An Azerbaijani Artist Transcribed the Quran on Silk & It Is Gorgeous!

Tünzale Memmedzade, an Azerbaijani artist, has transcribed the Holy Quran on transparent silk pages and it is gorgeous.

According to one report, Memmedzade, an art student at Marmara University in Turkey, used 1,500 milliliters of gold and silver inks, a total of 164 feet of silk material over a 3-year span to complete the project. The gifted artist transcribed the Quran based on the official version released from the Diyanet, the Turkish Presidency of Religious Affairs, on silk pages with each page measuring 29 x 33 centimeters.

This is the first version of the Quran transcribed onto to silk pages. The gold and silver inks are stunning.

The Quran is the divine book sent from Allah to the beloved Prophet Muhammad (May peace and blessings be upon him) as a guidance to all mankind.

“Verily, this Quran guides (humanity) to that which is most just…” (Noble Quran 17:9)

“This is the Book. In it is guidance surely without any doubt, to those who fear God, who believe in the Unseen, are steadfast in prayer, and spend out of what we have provided for them.” (Noble Quran 2:2 and 2:3)

Tünzale Memmedzade’s artwork is phenomenal and will be recorded in the history of Islamic art—but may her biggest reward come from the devotion to and time she spent being so close and consumed by Allah’s words.

Subhan’Allah, the words of Allah need no embellishment, however, to dedicate the time and patience to present the beautiful words of Allah on such a visually stunning platform is quite a feat.

While we appreciate the perfect words of Allah on beautiful silk pages in splendid gold and silver ink, it is also a reminder to make du’a that our hearts are open to the words of Allah and that the Quran never becomes just a beautiful work of art sitting in a museum or untouched on our bookshelves.
