And He is with you, wherever you are (Quran 57:4)
Despite knowing the fact that Allah is everywhere, I failed in making a strong connection with Him through prayers. I tried hard and struggled to keep my focus. However, my mind always gets diverted. I wanted to connect my heart with Allah, thank Him for countless blessings, and ask for forgiveness. But, every time, I ended up feeling disappointed by my efforts.
Sometimes I felt my sins becoming a hindrance in prayers and kept troubling. I knew one thing that I am not alone in this struggle. Other Muslims also complain about the same issue. However, many people take the utmost interest in prayers and feel peaceful after a strong focus. This made me contact with a Muslim professional a few months back. Tips provided by this mentor changed my life entirely.
Let me share these valuable points with you today.
Keep it simple
You are going to connect with the one who created you and breathed life into your soul. He is omnipresent and sovereign; He has all the powers of the world. Therefore, you do not need to dive into complexity.
Allah likes simplicity and truth. He has no need for embellishments. Always try to be yourself. Never use complicated words in your dua. It won’t make a difference. It will make things even more complicated for you. Your mind will keep on thinking about the best words, and you will forget what you want to ask for.
Try to be as simple as you can. Express your feelings in the best manner. Open up your heart, say whatever you want, and ask for help. Have firm faith that you will get help for sure.
Read and study the Quran
Have you ever experienced a one-sided conversation? It fails to deliver the message and often ends early. When you keep praying and do not know what Allah is saying in the Quran, you won’t get any motivation. For your prayers to become strong, you need to develop a good connection with Allah.
Quran is the right path to that connection. Read this last book of Allah, a comprehensive guide of life that tells everything. Know about the life of the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) and his struggles for Islam. Gain as much knowledge as you can. Do not be in a rush. Take your time. Understand every concept in detail and try to connect it with real-life examples. Once you have a deeper understanding of Islam and the Quran, you will automatically develop an interest in prayers.
For instance, if you know the following verses of the Quran, you will pray strongly with immense faith:
“And when My servants ask you concerning Me, then surely I am very near; I answer the prayer of the suppliant when he calls on Me, so they should answer My call and believe in Me that they may walk in the right way.” Quran: 2/186
By offering prayers at the earliest time, you tell your subconscious mind about its importance. If you keep on delaying prayer times, you will never realize its importance. Standing in front of Allah after getting free from all the routine chores is the worst decision. Put all your worldly matters on a pause, and turn towards Allah when it’s time to pray.
In this way, you will realize the importance of prayers and will start developing more interest — download the Prayer Times app and set reminders to reduce the chances of missing prayers besides making you punctual.
Be prepared to pray anywhere
Once you skip a prayer, you will develop a habit of it. If you want to build a strong connection with Allah, never compromise on prayers. Mandatory five times a day prayers a day should be practiced. For this, you should have a praying mat, wudu, and proper clothing wherever you go. Keep a praying mat in your car.
You should also try to stay in wudu as long as you can. Besides the fard prayers, you should develop a routine habit of zikr. Whether you are driving a car, walking in a park, or going shopping, keep doing zikr. Once you get into this habit, you will automatically do zikr wherever you are.
Many of us just ask for luxuries in our prayers. Change this habit. Ask for Allah for every minute thing. After all, everything is blessed by Him. For instance, if you are missing your favorite food, which you never had for many days, pray for it. Be like an open book in front of Allah. Always keep praying for things coming to your mind. Understand the fact that only He has the power to give and take every single thing of this world.
In this way, even if your single wish gets fulfilled, you will feel overwhelmed. Feelings of making your Lord happy motivate you for more prayers.
You might not get everything your wish for. However, it does not mean that you stop praying. Blindly trust Allah and realize that whatever He is doing is good for you. We, as humans, cannot comprehend the outcomes of certain conditions. Allah knows everything. He is the one who loves us 70 times more than our moms. Therefore, He has an exceptional love for human beings. He makes the best judgment. Even if He put us in trouble, it is for our betterment.
Prayer gave my life new meaning
With all these tips, I saw life with a new meaning. My connection with Allah became strong. Now, I feel happy and satisfied with whatever I have. It is because I know everything is happening for my betterment with the orders of Allah. I started praying with more devotion. The peace that I get after praying is unexplainable. I, therefore, advise everyone to trust in Allah, keep yourself busy in His zikr, learn and understand Quran, and do not delay your prayer times.
