Maternity wear is definitely a challenge. The hardest part is figuring out what looks good and what doesn’t on a growing belly. There are so many trends I loved but had to forego because they just didn’t suit my prego body! But just cause you are pregnant, doesn’t mean you start dressing like a bum.
From what I hear, we’ll have plenty time for that when the baby comes! So for now, I wanted to take advantage of these days and dress up. Since most regular clothes for me are loose fitting, I didn’t have to invest in too many maternity pieces.
Here are five easy looks you can pull together from your closet. These even work for non-maternity!
1. Add a leather jacket for just a dash of edge
Dress: Forever 21 // Jacket: Urban Outfitters // Bag & Shoes: Zara // Scarf: Charlotte Russe
Leather jackets go with anything! I love pairing mine with maxis for that edge. My old leather jackets still fit, but I got this one for maternity because it was less stiff and more comfortable as I got bigger over the last few months.
2. Dress up a chambray top
Chambray Top: Target Maternity // Shawl: Forever 21 // Pants: Zara // Shoes: Call it Spring
This chambray top from Target is one of the few maternity pieces that I actually bought. At times I bought items a size or two larger, but depending on the style, they looked way too loose around my shoulders. So if you’re going to spend money on maternity pieces, this is definitely one of them! I wear this on the weekend or even out running errands. The top can easily be accessorized with a cape like this!

3. Don’t be afraid to layer!
Leather Jacket: Urban Outfitters // Fur Vest: Forever 21 // Rust Top: H&M // Bag: Zara
Adding layers can be tricky while pregnant because they can make you look bulkier then you already are. But it is still possible! Go for pieces that are longline and not too loose or too tight. This rust top is actually a dress from H&M. I usually wear size 4 but I opted for a size 8 to accommodate my belly. I then layered a leather jacket to give my look some structure. Lastly, I added a longline fur vest to give myself some height. I of course didn’t button the vest — mainly cause I couldn’t! Believe it or not, this is a size small from Forever 21.

4. Maxi it Up
“Fall for Me” Dress: Delicate Hijabi
This is the easiest out of all. Long sleeve maxis are pretty easy to find these days and super comfortable — especially when you get bigger. This beautiful dress is from Delicate Hijabi in a size large. I added a belt to give my body some shape, so I wouldn’t look like I was wearing a big bag! If you do wear a floor-length maxi, definitely add a belt or wear a dress with synching at the waist.

5. Make leggings are your best friend
Sweater Dress & Bag: Zara // Shawl: Forever 21 // Shoes: TJ Maxx
I don’t think I even have to explain this one. Most of the outfits I wear are with leggings or black stretchy pants. I invested in some maternity jeans — but always found myself throwing on a pair of leggings. The easiest way to wear leggings is by adding a loose fit sweater and some cute accessories like this shawl or statement shoes.
