Athleisure (noun): a trend in fashion in which clothing designed for athletic workouts at a gymnasium, sometimes termed activewear, is worn outside of the gym to go to the office or shopping or other social occasions.
The rush of excitement I felt when I saw that the sweatpants, sneakers and tees i’ve been wearing as my “bummy” outfits…were now trendy? Sh*t just got real. The new “Athleisure” (Athletic Fashion) statement just made my Mondays a whole lot easier, and it’ll do the same to yours.
Here are 4 of my favorite items that fit into this style, and that you can snag too!
1. Track Pants
Whether it’s with a coat and heels (yes, you can work it), or a jacket and sneakers, track pants are the ultimate key to style and comfort — and success. Adidas has my favorite ones, but any type of brand works just as well!
2. Sneakers
Because sometimes, those heeled booties aren’t what our feet need when we’re running to catch an appointment or run to catch a bus or train. They need nikes, vans, adidas, keds, you name it. They’re all completely versatile and affordable, no matter what brand you choose from.
3. Baseball Caps
Both Saima and Sobi styled these caps with an all-black look, making a total badass statement. Hijabis and Non-hijabis, a cap can add as a perfect accessory to complete your entire look! (Cover up a bad hijab or hair day, am i right?)
4. Basic Tees
Those tees you throw on to go the gym and for lazy days in class with sweats? Pair them with a coat or long jacket and you’ve got a put together look! Still just as comfy and still just as versatile. I love to use them when I’m in need of a quick change from bum to going out.
