#MuslimGirlProbs Roundup: Molly White, Michelle Obama, Buzzfeed…

Hi! I have a question. I would dearly love somebody’s input, if you have the time and inclination. I’m in Australia, I’m a feminist (I love your facebook page btw, I refer people to you guys all the time if they start making “Islam is sexist those poor women” noises). I’m a non-Muslim white woman who wants to support my muslim sisters any way I can, especially living in a racist country under a racist prime minister who has made it more or less socially okay to say appalling things.

A little while ago some event occurred (I can’t remember what, hello, my privilege is showing). It may have been after the Sydney siege, as part of the #illridewithyou thing… But there were a bunch of non-Muslim women wearing the hijab in solidarity with Muslim women. And I felt super weird about it. And I had nobody to ask. On the one hand, yay, visible solidarity! At a time when everything feels so polarised! On the other hand, so many things. So many problems. What is your take on this?

you cannot appropriate hijab because headscarves are not only from Islam. why say no to people who want to wear it for a day? its a form of dawah as well.
