Five New Buys for the New Year

As the new year begins, new fashion trends should start to make their way into our closets. I sometimes find it hard to gauge how long, or little, certain trends are here to stay. I don’t know about you all, but I like to invest money on items that I can actually wear for the upcoming years. After seeing multiple trends on the runway and in stores, I’ve picked 5 New Buys that I think will make it through the New Year.

1. A Printed Poncho

My first pick is the printed poncho, cape or shawl. I’ve had an obsession with these guys for quite a while now, and I’m just thrilled they continue to stay under the fashion radar. The new update for the new year is a nice print. I got this from a small shop in the city but you can find them in most stores. I’ve listed a few of my favorite:

2. A Bucket Bag

My next pick  is the beautiful bucket bag. Large sized bags have been in for quite a while but sometimes you just need a small bag when your shopping, running errands or even traveling to fit your basic items. This bucket bag is an upgrade from the regular crossbody bag. Here are some of my favorite, affordable ones!

 3. A  Dainty Necklace

No one loves a statement necklace more than me, but I am TOTALLY loving layered dainty necklaces. You can get a necklace like this that already have layers or, you can do what I do, get a bunch of single necklaces and have fun with them. Here are some of my favorite!

4. A Plaid Dress

What MuslimGirl doesn’t love a long top? I’ve always found it difficult to find long plaid shirts, and even had to buy some from the men’s section so they could be long and modest enough. You can probably imagine how happy I was when I saw these plaid dresses! They come in so many different colors but my favorite is simple black and white.

5. A Pencil Skirt

For my last pick, I chose a Muslim Girl’s favorite piece of clothing: a maxi skirt….with a twist. This pencil skirt is the newest skirt trend. It can be tricky since it is a pretty fitted skirt. An easy trick to remain modest is to wear a longer cardigan or shirt on top. I won’t say too much about working the pencil skirt because the next post by Sobi Masood is going to be how to style this new trend! Keep an eye out for it 🙂
