Where Does Adnan Syed’s Case Stand?

Regardless of whether or not you believe that Adnan Syed, from Sarah Koenig’s podcast “Serial,” is guilty or not, it is important to note that there was a classmate who saw him at the time of the murder he was accused of. This classmate was never called in to testify during the initial murder case. If that doesn’t sow reasonable doubt, it’s hard to say what does. On top of everything, this evidence suggests that Syed is not responsible for the death of his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee, at all. If you’re curious to understand what’s been going on with Syed’s case as of late, check out this video.

Since the Supreme Court recently decided not to hear Adnan Syed’s appeal for a new trial, it is unclear whether this case will see any closure at this time. All we know is that those involved in the fight to see Adnan Syed as a free man have made it known that they will continue to explore their options. What I do know is that when I think of this case and the confusion it has cause, there is a verse in the Qur’an that comes to mind:

Say: ‘Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us: He is our protector.’ And on Allah let the believers put their trust.” (Surah At-Tawba, 51).
