The Youtube and Snapchat channel titled “Yemen Cooks” belongs to a 26-year-old woman from the sunny capital of Yemen, Sana’a. Due to cultural sensitivities, the chef wishes to keep her name anonymous, however, what we can tell you is that this bad-ass chef just graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Communications. She is single and living her life to the fullest because, duh, you don’t need a man to be happy, you just need delicious food!
This talented cook can make just about any recipe that comes from the Middle East. She bakes, cooks, and even decorates! Some may think, what’s new about that? A lot of Yemeni women can cook! That is true, but can they cook like this young lady? Short of this young chefs food looking like it belongs in a magazine or a fancy 5-star restaurant, the “Yemen Cooks” creative is humble and loves sharing her recipes. She enjoys seeing her viewers imitate her food. It’s so hard to choose just one or two of this young chef’s recipes as a favorite. Believe me, I’ve tried! The recipes are written in Arabic and English so that all of her followers can enjoy them.
This young lady was born in Yemen, and came to America at a young age. She started cooking seven years ago while in high school. Cooking became a hobby and type of therapy for her. She dreams of opening her own bakery someday. No doubt, I’m sure many would either love to support her in starting this business, or by being a customer.
