We Want to Award Production Grants to Muslim Women Filmmakers

Say “salam” to our most ambitious campaign to date for our #MuslimGirlArmy.  This year is MuslimGirl.com’s 10 Year Anniversary from when we first launched as a blog out of a teenage girl’s bedroom. You’ve since turned it into the biggest platform for Muslim women’s voices on the conversations that matter to us. So, we want to give back by empowering Muslim women on college campuses through the Muslim Girl Foundation: our independent non-profit organization created to make MuslimGirl.com’s mission accessible to all.

This year, we want to roll out production grants to enable young Muslim women filmmakers, creators, and artists to tell our stories in more new unique and compelling ways.  tweet

We just launched a crowdfunding campaign during Ramadan to expand our scholarship fund and create more opportunities for young Muslim women. Because of you, we were able to kick off our first ever #MGScholarship specifically geared towards the most marginalized of groups within our religious community, such as Black, undocumented or refugee women. We delivered thousands of dollars worth of awards to some of the most badass students from around the world that we never met, from NYU to Swarthmore and beyond.

This year, we want to roll out production grants to enable young Muslim women filmmakers, creators, and artists to tell our stories in more new unique and compelling ways. We need your help to make a difference, and what better time than Ramadan?

Every donation of any amount during the first week of Ramadan gets BOOSTED! tweet

It’s super easy to take part: sign up to be on our “MG Giving Team” here, and donate to the campaign here to help us expand our scholarship fund to continue empowering the voices of Muslim women on college campuses with scholarships and production grants. Every donation of any amount during the first week of Ramadan gets BOOSTED!

Ten years ago, MuslimGirl.com was born in the bedroom of a teenage girl who was fed up with feeling voiceless in the media. MuslimGirl.com grew to become the biggest English-language platform for Muslim women’s voices online, by and for Muslim women — as it should be. With major partners and projects across different industries from MTV and Teen Vogue to Getty Images, Planned Parenthood, and beyond, MuslimGirl.com has become one of the most visible sources for both Muslim and non-Muslim audiences alike. Wish us happy birthday by donating to the Muslim Girl Foundation today.

It is our goal to ensure that our voices are heard and IMPOSSIBLE to ignore — and we can only achieve that goal together. Every donation counts and is put towards empowering a young Muslim woman that needs it, no matter how small the amount. Ride with the squad, alhamdulillah.

The Muslim Girl Foundation is an independent, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation.
