Be Bold in a Blazer!

First off, I am very excited to be part of the amazing MuslimGirl team! I hope my own fusion of hijab and fashion will inspire you to find your own sense of style. A blazer is an absolute essential in every hijabi’s closet. Whether you’re going out for dinner, a holiday party, or a job interview, you can make it work for any event. It’s versatile to wear with trousers, maxi dresses, skirts, and even jumpsuits. For winter and the upcoming spring season, long and loose blazers are in, which couldn’t be more ideal for us girls that look for long everything. Here are some ways I’ve worn some blazers!

This first look is probably my favorite because it is inspired by the rich colors of autumn. Here I have paired a printed floral blouse over a maxi dress and topped it off with a blazer to give the look some structure. It is more of a casual-day wear but can definitely be worn all year round! Blazer is from H&M; maxi: Forever 21; blouse and scarf: Joyce Leslie. Yes I know, shocking — but Joyce Leslie is one of my secret weapons!

As you can see, I love prints! Cheetah is the new neutral print. You can pair cheetah with anything. Cheetah blouses, cheetah hijabs, cheetah shoes, cheetah bags, and, if you want to be real risque, then cheetah jeans! It also can be worn with most, if not all, colors. Here I paired it with a light pink blazer for the winter season, but in the summer I would definitely wear it with a hot pink blazer! I wore this to a birthday lunch and it can be transformed into night outfit with a black hijab and cobalt blue blazer.

Save this look for a girls’ night out! Tuxedo blazers were introduced this past fall and continue to be a trend throughout this winter and upcoming spring. I kept it simple with an all black Zara jumpsuit and black hijab and just a pop of color with the blue clutch. Blazers came in as a trend but now have become a staple piece in every girl’s closet. Boyfriend blazers, floral blazers, striped blazers, and contrast sleeve blazers are just some of the new styles for Winter and Spring 2013. They can really be found in most stores but all of my blazers are from Forever 21 and H&M. If you haven’t already bought one, I suggest you do so soon! What do you think about this piece? What are some ways that you’ve rocked blazers?
