By Gathering All Muslim Artists, or GAMA, is one of our favorite, essential non-profit organizations. Defying the social taboo of art expression, GAMA aims to (literally) gather ALL Muslim artists in an effort to empower and support a community of underrepresented virtuosos. This magic happens by creating a network of Muslim artists, initiating ongoing opportunities for exposure through exhibits and galleries, as well as finding marketplaces for artists to sell their art pieces.

“GAMA (Gathering All Muslim Artists) serves to support and empower visual artists, photographers, and digital designers in the Muslim community. We seek to encourage art appreciation throughout the Muslim community, establish new connections and self-confidence through creative participation.
By hosting quarterly events and holding art gallery showings at various Bay Area mosques and businesses we want to build our community as a foundation for expression and inspiration.
In addition, we hope to create a network of artists who can support, mentor and collaborate with each other, while also providing opportunities for workshops/classes for the community at large.”
In this holy month of Ramadan, GAMA is crowdsourcing a campaign intending to raise $10K to assist artists during this critical time of reclaiming the Muslim narrative.

Islamic art and Muslim artists have been admired for centuries before our generation. It is up to us to continue supporting and empowering modern day artists so as not to lose something valuable to Islamic culture.
