World’s First Ramadan Energy Bar Designed Specifically for Fasting Muslims

Now that Ramadan falls during the thick of the summer months, long days compounded with familial responsibilities and a professional workload can make fasting a tiresome task. Many times, maximizing your time devoted to prayer and other acts of worship can result in fatigue and an early burnout into the holy month.

For those looking for an extra boost in these long days, Fajr Foods, sponsor of our Eid care package, recently launched the world’s first Ramadan energy bar designed specifically for individuals who are fasting. Low in fat and chocolate in flavor, the protein bars come in convenient packages that are meant to last up to nine hours.

Instead, the Switzerland-based entrepreneur said, the protein bar that is meant to be eaten during suhoor provides the energy needed “to take the edge off during the day.” tweet

Fajr Foods founder Farid Sanders pointed out that energy from food typically runs out very quickly, resulting in fatigue and low levels of energy for those who fast. Instead, the Switzerland-based entrepreneur said, the protein bar that is meant to be eaten during suhoor provides the energy needed “to take the edge off during the day.”

“Our low fat, caffeine-free chocolate-flavored bare [uses] complex carbohydrates that digest over a longer period of time,” Sanders explains. “The Ramadan Energy bar gives you a little extra energy so you can stay engaged and don’t experience the overwhelming sleepiness and tiredness that sometimes goes along with the blood sugar dropping.”

The Ramadan energy bar is being sold primarily in the U.K. through Amazon and in the United States through Fajr Foods’ company website.

‘Muslims spend a lot of money over the holiday season, and I think this poses an unmet need. We need more products that focus on Muslim consumers, and Fajr Foods hopes to do that.’ tweet

Sanders’ ultimate goal is to see his products like the energy bar in the supermarkets one day.  “In the West, religious holidays are known for taking over the supermarkets, but for whatever reason, Ramadan is not visible,” he says. “Muslims spend a lot of money over the holiday season, and I think this poses an unmet need. We need more products that focus on Muslim consumers, and Fajr Foods hopes to do that.”
