Nordstrom Removes All Ivanka Trump Products From Stores

Nordstrom announced on Thursday that it will not longer be carrying Ivanka Trump’s products in stores or online.

An official statement issued by Nordstrom explained that the dropping of the brand ensued from poor sales.

“Each year we cut about 10% [of brands carried] and refresh our assortment with about the same amount,” the statement said. “In this case, based on the brand’s performance we’ve decided not to buy it for this season.”

Though the statement never explicitly alludes to #GrabYourWallet, the removal arrives at the peak of the major boycott against Nordstrom for carrying Ivanka Trump products.

Shannon Coulter, the spearheader of the boycott that began in late 2016, crafted an open letter to Nordstrom expressing her concern for the company as a faithful customer. The letter, which went viral on Twitter, condemned the retailer for carrying any of her products to begin with.

Though the statement never explicitly alludes to #GrabYourWallet, the removal arrives at the peak of the major boycott against Nordstrom for carrying Ivanka Trump products.

“I wouldn’t be concerned if Ivanka Trump just happened to be the daughter of Donald, but she’s not. She works for him, campaigns for him,” she tweeted in October.  “Although I know there’s little way could have seen any of this coming, I’m not sure how I feel about shopping w/ you now…”

The Grab Your Wallet Website also lists other organizations to steer clear of due to their support for the Trump family and campaign.

Coulter was thrilled with Nordstrom’s decision and tweeted this:

Following the campaign, Ivanka Trump told Good Morning America that despite the negative rhetoric surrounding her brand, she still advocates for women’s rights. “My advocacy of women, trying to empower them in all aspects of their life, started long before this presidential campaign,” she said. “I’ve never politicized that message. People are seeking to politicize it because they may disagree with the politics of my father, and there’s nothing I can do to change that.”

The now unavailable products include Ivanka Trump’s brand shoes, apparel and handbags. A few shoes remain on the market on Nordstrom’s website with 40 percent off discounts.
