Summary of Trump’s Executive Orders & Plans:

page 2

In his first week of office, President Trump has made several Executive Orders that have the world buzzing. While unconventional to jump in with such devastating changes for many Americans, to say the least, it’s definitely not uncommon.

Former President George W. Bush made several Executive Orders soon into his presidency that changed policies as well. In fact, presidents have signed an average of 14 executive orders in their first 100 days in office.

Having said that, Trump’s EO’s and memorandums have many of us concerned for the direction the country is headed—he is close to exceeding 14 Executive Orders before his first 10 days in office.

1. Affordable Care Act

The Trump Administration has begun works on rolling back “Obamacare,” leaving hundreds of thousands without proper care and no plans for a substitute, as of now.

Rule number one, make sure you have a plan ready to go to ensure health for your citizens before you take healthcare away.

2. Immigration/Building the Wall

It’s officially started. An Executive Order for strict immigration laws and building “the wall” has been issued. Seven Muslim majority countries had previously been listed on a temporary ban list for a leaked draft. The details are still being determined on refugee and visa programs as applied to many Muslim countries in the Middle East, including Syria.

His plan to build the wall at our southern borders is in the works, while Mexico’s leader Enrique Pena Nieto continues to condemn the decision. How this will make America great again is yet to be determined—but rest assured, the xenophobes are celebrating.

3. DAPL/Expediting Infrastructure Projects

It appears the hard work and victory of protestors, Native Americans, and the former president do not mean a thing to our current administration. President Trump just signed an order to clear the roadblocks for work that will continue to raise risks to harm the environment. This decision encourages the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline and Keystone XL Pipeline.

Protests emerged late last year with the hashtag #NoDAPL, because the construction site passes through sacred Native lands, and poses a risk for pipe leakage and contamination of drinking water for hundreds of thousands of people.

4. Enhancing Public Safety

This Executive Order basically says that if you’re a person in this country illegally, or you have overstayed your visa, you are basically screwed and a threat to national security. Be careful and contact an attorney immediately. Refer to our “Legal Help and Community Support” and “Resources” pages for links and more info.

5. Abortion

This is a bit tricky, because it is actually under the Presidential Memorandum Regarding the Mexico City Policy, which can throw some people off their game. This bar bans taxpayer dollars from being used to aid funding for non-governmental organizations abroad.

Say goodbye to services provided by organizations that do so much more than just abortions. Just another way the male-dominated politicians on the Hill are trying to dictate what women do with their bodies.

6. Withdrawing From TPP

Trump signed an Executive Order to withdraw the U.S. from the Trans-Pacific Partnership Trade Agreement and has plans to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

7. Supreme Court

Although we don’t have names yet, the president has tweeted that his picks are coming up on Thursday. Seriously…he tweeted that.

8. Your Right to Vote

So, if winning the election wasn’t good enough for him, President Trump is still calling foul play (most likely not appreciating the fact he lost the popular vote) and is calling for an investigation on voter fraud. Let’s get on that quick, Mr. President, because we have some questions about the number of states your daughter Tiffany was registered to vote in, as well as your boy, Steve Bannon. While you’re at it, please check out Russia’s involvement in this election as well…cause, you know…you won?

9. Federal Hiring Freeze

Trump ordered that federal agencies can not fill any vacancies or create new ones, planning to reduce the size of the Federal Government workforce. He did, however, specify that military personnel and critical public safety positions are exempt from this freeze.

This list will continue to grow, and you should be up to speed with what is going on with your country. For more information on the specifics of each Executive Order, click here. Stay informed—and stay tuned to Muslim Girl’s updates as they come.
