Donald Trump Wants Rudy Giuliani to Help Him Figure Out How to Ban Muslims

Another day, another episode of the real-life reality TV show/circus that America’s Presidential election is becoming…starring, of course, reality TV vet Donald Trump.

Trump did a phone interview with the increasingly pro-Trump Fox News yesterday morning, and the topic inevitably turned to his proposed “Muslim ban.”

“We have to be extremely careful,” Trump told them.  “In fact, I’m thinking about setting up a commission, perhaps headed by Rudy Giuliani, to take a very serious look at this problem. But this is a worldwide problem. And we have to be smart.”

Data however, shows that Trump might want to spend his time tackling the things that are more likely to be lethal to Americans…like toddlers.  Or asteroids.  Or falling out of bed.

He did, however, appear to soften his stance, calling the proposed ban “only a suggestion.”

At any rate, Trump’s bright idea–to have Giuliani spearhead his ban on Muslims–comes as no surprise.

Giuliani was the mayor of New York City when 9/11 (or “7-11” as Trump says) happened.

When Trump baselessly and erroneously claimed that “thousands of Muslims” were celebrating the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Giuliani jumped on TV himself to corroborate Donald’s factually incorrect views, saying:

“We had one situation in which a candy store owned by a Muslim family was celebrating that day, right near a housing development. And the kids in the housing development came in and beat them up.

And, I think both facts were corroborated to be true. Because they were celebrating that the towers were coming down, some of the kids got really upset about it and they came in and did a pretty good job of beating them up.”

Giuliani should have done less “thinking” and more fact-checking.

The incident he was referring to was actually a documented Islamophobic hate crime.

This isn’t the only anti-Muslim propaganda Trump relies on; he’s also come to rely on a tall tale about General John Pershing ending terrorism by executing Muslim prisoners with bullets dipped in pig’s blood, which has also been proven false.

If you ask me, people in positions of power who don’t know what the heck they’re talking about–and have no desire to learn–are way scarier–and more dangerous–than your average Muslim.
