Here Are Powerhouse Muslim Women Reshaping Our Media Narrative

The Girls’ Room is a MuslimGirl.net online monthly series of Google Hangouts in which we discuss the topics that we all actually want to talk about with badass guests from the Muslim community and beyond. Be sure to subscribe to our emails to hear about upcoming episodes before anyone else.

MuslimGirl.net proudly invites you to our International Women’s Month edition of The Girls’ Room: MEDIA RENEGADES. What’s all this talk of Muslim women not being in the media? They are. You just aren’t listening.

Date: Thursday, March 26th

Time: 8 PM Eastern Standard Time

Location: Google +

Featured Guests:

  • Maria Ebrahimji, Co-Founder, I Speak for Myself, Inc.
  • Zainab Chaudry, National Spokeswoman, Council on American Islamic Relations
  • Hena Zuberi, Editor-in-Chief, MuslimMatters.org
  • Sana Saeed, Producer, AJ+, MuslimGirl Baddie of the Month!
  • Moderated by Amani Al-Khatahtbeh, Founder, MuslimGirl.net

MEDIA RENEGADES will be bringing together female Muslim powerhouses in media to discuss their incredible work and how they got to where they are today; challenges that Muslim women must face in the media industry; what our generation of Muslim women can do to reshape our media narrative; and, most importantly, how our media narrative impacts our real life experiences.

Anyone may take part in the conversation and pose questions directly to the speakers using the hashtag #MGRENEGADES on Twitter. We will be featuring your tweets and answering your questions live on the air.

Google Hangouts only allow up to 100 participants at a time. Therefore, attendance is on a first-come, first-serve basis. After the live event ends, its recording will be immediately available online for your viewing. We encourage everyone to share and invite your friends to this online event. To RSVP and for a list of topics to be discussed, you can visit our Facebook event page here.
